Emulation Technology Announces New CPLD & FPGA Prototyping and Development Boards

Rapid Prototyping and Development Boards featuring Xilinx® CPLD's & FPGA's







SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 23, 2002-Emulation Technology, Inc. (ET), the industry's leading manufacturer and marketer of adapters, sockets and interconnect solutions introduces a new suite of prototyping and development boards. These boards have been created for hardware and software design engineers needing an easy to use and rapid prototyping environment capable of hosting complex digital systems. The CPLD-based development boards feature a 64 macrocell, 1600 gate Xilinx Coolrunner™ CPLD, and the FPGA-based development boards include a Xilinx Spartan™ 2E XC2S200E FPGA in a PQ208 package. Both types of development boards are fully compatible with the free Xilinx WebPACK™ CAD tools so users can quickly and easily create new designs. Two peripheral boards and two types of breadboards are also available which support and extend the capabilities of the development boards.

How they work
The prototyping and development boards with programmable chips and circuits have been designed to work with a cable attached to a PC's parallel port, using Xilinx's JTAG configuration protocol (a programming cable is included with the board). Designs for the programmable chips can be completed in virtually all leading CAD tools, including the free WebPack tools available from the Xilinx website. The WebPack tools can also be used to process designs into a format that can be downloaded to the boards to configure the programmable chips.
